Funktional defined, designed, and crafted the story for a new development built in the spirit of a special era in downtown Hamilton.

The Radio Arts address celebrates the history of a former radio station, known in the late 1950s and early 1960s as the Radio Arts Building — its namesake. Today, it offers new opportunities to be part of Hamilton’s re-energized downtown community.

The brand nods to the Radio Arts’ era with an iconic 60’s vibe paired with a modern edge — mirroring the building’s architecture. The brick-and-beam podium draws from the original 1908 structure, while the rising black-and-white tower of glass, artful terraces, and Juliets create a striking modern contrast to the masonry.

The fluid, adaptable identity system comes to life across digital, print, and environmental touchpoints — from brochures and signage to digital assets for web, social, and advertising. The logo system with it’s rising letterforms effortlessly transforms from horizontal, staggered, tower and split versions which winks at the architectural design infusing a touch of modernity with a take on late 50’s/60’s poster-style typography.
