Hamilton, ON

Funktional defined, designed and crafted the story for a new development built in the spirit of a special era in downtown Hamilton. Radio Arts’ address celebrates the history of a former radio station, known in the late 50’s/early 60’s as the Radio Arts building, its namesake. Today, it provides new opportunities to be part of Hamilton’s burgeoning downtown community.

The brand nods to the Radio Arts’ era with an iconic 60’s vibe paired with a current, modern design which perfectly reflects the building with its brick and beam podium inspired by the original 1908 architecture, while rising above is a black and white tower of glass and artful staggered terraces, balconies and Juliets adding a modern contrast to the masonry.

The fluid and adaptable identity system comes to life in an array of digital, print, and environmental mediums from sales brochures and signage, to digital assets for web, social and advertising. The logo system with it’s rising letterforms effortlessly transforms from horizontal, staggered, tower and split versions which winks at the architectural design infusing a touch of modernity with a take on late 50’s/60’s poster-style typography.

The robust website is a comprehensive information vault for the location’s history and area amenities, the building & community amenities, interiors, and interior selections. Stunning renderings, beautiful photography and compelling video helps viewers connect with the area and community offerings.
